We
wish to thank you and acknowledge our mother's near miraculous
response to severe low back pain due to stenosis of her
lumbar spine. She had a history of back pain for over 60
years, since she was pregnant with twins. Her back pain
had gotten progressively worse over the past few years,
and last year at the age of 86, it was excruciating. After
3 expensive steroid injections, with the cost to Medicare
of about $11,000.00, she was no better, could walk only
with great pain, bent forward at the waist almost 90 degrees.
The medication prescribed by a pain specialist made her
weak, confused, disoriented and depressed, and she lost
about 25 pounds in 3 months.
After
evaluation by the leading spinal surgery Clinic in Cincinnati,
the recommended treatment was the "X-stop" procedure,
and implant between her vertebrae to spread the bones apart
and stop the pinching of nerves, which caused her so much
pain. However, the prognosis was poor; out of 100 patients
who had this procedure, 50% reported "some" improvement.
Because of her advanced age, the prognosis would probably
not be that good.
At
this time our mother was on very expensive pain patches
to the area along with oral pain medication, and she was
in a wheel chair. After researching alternative options,
we found Dr. Gearhart who immediately began treatment with
the decompression table. By the 4th treatment, our mother
was walking upright, and she obtained very effective pain
control with only two Ibuprofen tablets taken 3 times a
day. As the treatment progressed, she reported much less
pain, walked at a brisk pace, and slowly gained back her
lost weight.
After
the first week of three treatments, we were able to cut
her down to two treatments weekly, and now she receives
only one treatment a week, and is doing well., taking only
Ibuprofen or Tylenol for pain.
Now
he is 87 and remains in good spirits. Even with the decreased
energy level due to her age, she is able to walk fair distances
(as those required to walk through a Super Walmart) without
a walker. In fact she has not used her walker since about
her 10th treatment.
We
are grateful to have discovered Dr. Gearhart and his staff
who have been so helpful and supportive in our mother's
rehabilitation, at a time when we had almost lost hope.

"When
I first came to Health Source, I could only sleep on my
right side. If I turned, I would cramp up and wake up. I
was uncomfortable all of the time.
Now,
while I still have to be careful, I feel great. For years
I've said that my lower back felt like a rusty hinge. Now
it feels as if the rust is gone.
I
truly feel that Health Source has helped restore my ability
to stay active and improve my quality of life. I have even
seen improvements in my vision, which the eye doctors don't
seem to understand or agree with, but I know it's true.
Health
Source is a friendly, clean environment where you can get
a complete approach to improving your physical situation."

"No longer do I gripe to my wife, or take anti-inflammatories
for my back pain. Health Source eliminated my pain completely.
Now I feel awesome and I can stand, sit, do any sport, and
play with my kids again.
The
best part about going to Health Source is the personality
of the staff and their dedication to my recovery."

I
train in martial arts and when I hurt my back, I avoided
seeking treatment because I didnt want to hear that
I needed surgery or was going to have to take a bunch of
medication. Fortunately, I decided to try the care at Health
Source before going to see an orthopedic specialist, and
Im sure glad I did!
The
staff at Health Source got me back to feeling great again
in a short amount of time, without the need for surgery
or medication, and I didnt have to quit training.
I
cant say enough about the great care at Health Source.
Not only do they have a comprehensive program to get you
back feeling great fast, but its fun too. I really
enjoyed my office visits.

I
have pain in my lower back so I could not rest well at night,
bending and picking up things were a NO! Ever since I came
to Health Source I feel much better, they have helped me
live a better life. I would recommend friends and family
to Health Source because Dr. Gearhart cares about the people
that come into his office, and I know that Health Source
can help them like they have helped me.

Kudos
to Dr. Gearhart and his staff!
After slipping on ice late last winter, I incurred an ever-
increasing problem with my back that ultimately left me
nearly disabled. I was unable to stand up straight. With
pain radiating down my leg I could not walk more than a
few yards before finding it necessary to sit. Additionally,
sleep was also difficult due to the back and leg pain.
After hearing a commercial for Dr. Gearhart, I decided to
visit the office. Subsequent to consultation with Dr. Gearhart
an MRI was performed which showed lumbar disc problems as
well as a substantial degree of stenosis. Dr. Gearhart felt
I was a candidate for his spinal decompression therapy.
A course of treatment was determined and implemented. The
decompression unit, combined with electrical muscular stimulation,
massage therapy and physical therapy all resulted in immediate
positive results
Now that treatments are at an end I am completely pain free
and doing all the things I used to do. I cannot thank Dr.
Gearhart and his Staff enough.
Well Done, Dr. Gearhart!
I have had trouble in my lower back and left hip joint since
1969. Many times I needed help to get in and out of bed.
Early this year I read about the DRX 9000.1 had had a rough
winter because of the cold weather and shoveling snow so
much I could hardly get dressed without help. I decided
at once to go and find out about the DRX 9000.1 went into
the treatment program and after 5 treatments my pain and
hurting in my hip and back was gone. It has been about three
months since my pain went away and I am still pain free.
Thank you very much for giving me back my outdoor life pleasures.

Dr. Gearhart:
When I walked into your office I was in so much pain I couldn't
walk.
The DRX9000 Series has really helped me.
Mary Lou has been very nice to me and so has Amy and the
therapist.
I thank you very much for everything,
I'm a new person and I want to thank you from my heart.
Thanks,

I feel it necessary to let you know how much your program
helped me. I had had major low back surgery in 2000 &
10 months later in 2001. Since then I spent many hours under
chiropractic care. Pain did become worse and an MRI in March,
2004 showed major problems that the neuro-surgeon said could
only be helped by drugs as there was no cure for my unstable
back.
The 6 weeks of intensive treatment at your clinic proved
the neuro-surgeon wrong. At the moment I am pain-free (even
in my knees, an orthopedic doctor had said I needed a knee
replacement several years ago.)
I am now doing the home exercises suggested by your clinic
and I look forward to keeping the pain away. Maybe I will
need an occasional check-up at the clinic but I am pleased
that I can do various exercises that I thought I could never
do again.
You and your staff did an excellent job of helping me rid
myself of pain and build up muscle and get back to living
a normal life.
Thank you,

Skeptic
n. 1, Once who instinctively or habitually doubts, questions,
or disagrees with assertions or generally accepted conclusion.
Call me traditional, but when it came to general chiropractic
treatment, "skeptic" and "skepticism"
were words I regularly used to explain my position. If one
were to even suggest chiropractic treatment in connection
with something as serious and painful as my lower lumbar
back problems, you may as well have asked me ta try "aromatherapy"
because chiropractic was not something I would have considered
a credible recommendation.
I lived with recurring lower back pain for several years,
until matters deteriorated to the point where 1 was having
difficulty with simple day to day activities like bending
over to pick up a dropped pen and walking. When an MRI revealed
a bulging disc in my lower lumbar spine, I sought the opinion
of a respected neurologist, who left me with the following
choices:
Undergo surgery or live with the pain. Having family members
with similar back problems, I was all too familiar with
those options and the uncertain results. Medication merely
covers up the symptoms, allowing you to exacerbate the problem,
and I was not going under the knife when my chances for
success were largely open for debate. So I did my best to
work within my limitations: I quit working out, virtually
eliminated riding my motorcycle, stopped lifting my kids
up when I returned home from work in the evening, gave up
on working in the yard, etc. Anyone with problems like mine
has a comparable list of limitations. While few of us really
want to go back to doing yard work, we'd gladly trade the
back pain for all the yard work our spouses can dish out.
Thanks largely to Dr. Gearhart and the staff at Progressive
Health and Rehabilitation, this chiropractic-skeptic is
now free from my chronic back pain. (I say largely, because
I allow myself some credit for sticking with the program,
but more on that later). It's almost too simple to sound
credible, but relief came through a combined course of treatments
consisting of the DXR 9000, neuromuscular stimulation, massage
therapy and physical rehabilitation. I won't bother attempting
to summarize how the DXR 9000 works because- Dr. Gearhart
has-plenty of literature and study information on the machine,
but in layman's terms it took the pressure off of my compressed,
bulging disc. With the DXR 9000 taking the-pr-essure off,
Dr. Gear hart's staff managed my pain through stimulation,
massage and a stretching program. As I progressed through
the course of treatment, I was instructed in strength training
exercises that rebuilt my lower back muscles for better
spinal support and posture.
The result has been nothing short of amazing. I wake up
every morning and hit the floor without that terrible, radiating
pain going through my lower back and have-resumed all of
my daily physical activities (yes, including the yard work).
I'm convinced that this course of treatment is the best
choice for anyone suffering from chronic lower back pain
because it's non-invasive, requires no "down time"
for recovery like surgery, doesn't involve taking mind-numbing
medications and its guaranteed! The only thing required
of me was a personal commitment to complete the course of
treatment, which took about one month in my case. For some,
that may seem significant and, candidly, it struck me that
way at first. However, when I reflected on the number visits
to my primary care physician and neurologist, trips to the
pharmacy, etc., it didn't seem like too much to ask and,
after a few visits, I actually started looking forward to
my treatment sessions. Obviously, my progress is proof it
was worth the commitment of time.
Needless to say, my skepticism disappeared with my lower
back pain.
Brian J. Thomas
Dear Dr. Gearhart:
When I interviewed with you at your office during the 2nd
week of January, 2004, I had off and on back pain that I
would rate as high as 8 or 9 on a zero to 10 scale. This
pain was becoming more continuous and the only relief that
I could obtain was through the use of prescription pain
medication. I've had lower back problems for 25 years that
would come and go, depending on activities, but would go
away after 2 or 3 weeks.
However, this pain progressively increased during the last
2 years. As an example, the pain started in November, 2002
and lasted through April, 2003. During that period, I had
periodic visits with a Neuro-Surgeon and visited a chiropractor
about 3 times per week for about 2 l/2 months. Finally when
the weather turned warmer, the pain slowly went away and
was gone by May, 2003.
This past November, 2003, the pain came back again and continued
to increase into January, 2004. Frankly, this was a last
resort when I came to your Progressive Health & Rehabilitation
Center. If your program and machinery did not work, I was
going to schedule an operation to have my affected vertebrae
in my lower back fused together.
After 20 sessions during a 7-week period, the pain intensity
in my back has greatly improved to the point where the pain
comes and goes and is usually very mild. I did have one
set-back 2 weeks ago when I strained my back and I had intermittent
pain that increased to about a 5 level. However, this gradually
decreased during a 5-day period to the level described above.
Your program, using the DRX-9000 back decompression machine
coupled with the physical therapy session and ending with
electrical muscle stimulation, has given me the opportunity
to control my back problems without surgery.
As I discussed with you earlier this week, I have purchased
an inversion table through the inter-net and started using
it last week. By using this equipment and continuing with
back stretching exercises, all of my therapy will now be
done at home to better fit my work schedule.
I thank you and your staff for your courteous help.
Sincerely,
Dick Neyer
